My Fashion Week Outfit

Marque and Joanne Vega
New York Fashion Week is over, but with it many great memories have been recorded for fashion history, and so does my affordable outfit. Didn't realize until after I was wearing a rather Adelesque outfit, don't you think?
If you like to look, here's the breakdown:

Mini - Shopping Episode!

Hi there

Today I had a little free time on my hands so I decided to browse clothes at Forever 21+. Saw a lot of cute things but since I am a girl on a budget, I decided to try on the cutest items I knew I would buy on the spot if they fit. So, I picked the Bow Front Denim Shorts, the Garden Variety Top and the Peacock Feather Dress.

When I tried on the shorts I fell in love for sure, they fit perfectly and comfortably, not to mention they are cute as a button on!

The garden top is supposed to be a tunic, but if you are shorter than 5' 9" (as am I) then it fits in length as a cute short summer dress. A warning, if you do decide to wear it as such I recommend to use a slip underneath since it is sheer enough to show your underwear a little, so to be on the safe side, use the slip.

The peacock dress is to die for! I had to try it in 1X since the XL had run out (I fluctuate between the two sizes depending on fit and material). It fit but it looked a bit big and I know that it would have fit
perfectly in XL so I had to leave it behind :'( . I decided to wear them on an upcoming anniversary trip/ vacation so I will take pictures so you all can see how cute they look on! I promise, so look forward to that soon!

Resort Season - Nautical Babe

Hello there fashionistas! It's been a while, I am one busy fashionista, but I am back now and ready to talk a little about a very big essence of what makes up resort: Nautical. Now, a lot of people are afraid of horizontal stripes (specially curvy people) and the main colors (nobody want to look like the poster child of 4th of July), but there is nothing to be afraid of. Anyone can pull of these very cute horizontal stripes and you can play with the colors in your favor! (Hint: this year you can add colors like camel, tan, grey, black and even coral to make it a fun season and an easier transition from season to season.)

Now here are some examples of the staples of the Resort Season and the whole Nautical theme. As you will see they are very fun and are looks and items of clothing you will be able to incorporate into your spring (and even summer!) wardrobes very easily. This is so you can see what is in stores and what you might actually have in your closets from previous seasons. And on that note I will let you know that in the next couple of days I will show you how I have incorporated items similar to these to my wardrobe and how I am currently styling and using them myself, so be on the look out for that post. In the meantime, take a peek below!

XO,

Hilmarie

Faith 21 changes name to Forever 21 +

A few weeks ago Forever 21 started announcing an upcoming change in name for its plus sizes line Faith 21 and the official change is finally here. The are promoting the change as the line only changing its name not its style or clothing and from what I have seen at the store and online they seem to be keeping their word. What are your thoughts on this name change? Comment away!

Went Shopping Today =)

Hey Blogarristas! I went today to the mall, to my dismay that I had to wait for like an hour just to get to the multilevel parking. If you reside in Puerto Rico you know, if you do not, Puerto Rico's main sport is shopping. No store in Puerto Rico feels the downsides of economic turmoil because we rather be bankrupted and full of debt, in style. Well, going down to business, I went venturing on the other side of the mall, usually I stay near where Macys is, to Forever 21, one of the biggest stores they have on the nation, it's as big as a department store, is ridiculous.

Anywhooo, I always wonder for like 3 hours there, and even though I'm plus and the store is mainly skinnier girl clothes, luckily a few pieces from the regular side still fit me =). To my surprise, they just expanded the plus section, called Faith 21. I went with my reserves because I didn't like the selection they had offered so far. I was surprised by the variety of clothes they got, and how cheap it is! Is perfect for season items you do not want to spend a whole lot for. I do need to say that it runs a little big, unless you want it not too fitted. These two dresses are 1X, but I felt they runned slim (fitted). I tried two more dresses that  were 1X and felt huge and they didn't have XL available at the time, which was a bummer.

The first one cost me $22.80 + tax, & the jean strapless dress cost $24.80 + tax which was a steal! I always spend more than $50 for dresses that I only used a few times, so this is a great alternative for me. Although I will use these more than a couple of times, they are light weight and fun! If you notice they still have their tags on, I couldn't resist not showing them to you. Don't know if they still have them at your local Faith 21, but you can check at their website: www.forever21.com.

Until Next Time!

XOXO,

BV
